Today the governing Ontario Liberal party announced it was going to impose a contract on all school boards which still had unsettled contracts with its teachers' unions. The Minister of Education stated that any job action after this day would be illegal and that she expected teachers to resume extra-curricular activities since she would repeal Bill 115.
I find this so hypocritical. The Liberals prorogued parliment because they thought the system wasn't working and wanted to focus on negotiating settlements. They seem to think that prorogation was an acceptable course of action. I'm victim of a government that wouldn't negotiate; that only wanted teachers to come to the bargaining table to accept its terms. I feel that the system is broken. Just like the Liberals I think I should prorogue my activities until things get fixed. |
